Renly Baratheon | King’s Landing | Member of the Small Coucil | FC: Gethin Anthony | Taken
When his brother Robert died, Renly heeded the advice of his friend and lover Loras, and stole away to Highgarden to establish himself as King. Right before his marriage to Margaery, Ser Jorah Mormont came to his camp with a message from Viserys, asking for his aide in sacking the city. Renly knew that he didn’t stand a chance against a 40,000+ Dothraki hoard, so he agreed to aid Viserys along side the House Stark and Martell. Because, Viserys relieved House Baratheon of any treason. After they successfully sacked King’s Landing, Renly swore fealty to King Viserys and accepted a seat on the small council as Master of Laws. However, he’s had a taste of the power that a King can wield, and as a result he is itching to take the throne for himself. He secretly maintains Highgarden support; but Mace Tyrell is quickly turning his attention to securing his daughter’s reign with or without Renly as King. Can Renly persuade the rest of the realm to rally behind his cause without Viserys growing suspicious?
- Gets on well with Edmure Tully, but irritates Mace Tyrell with his indecisiveness.
- Maintains a secret relationship with Loras, who believes he will be a great King.
- Despite sitting on the small council on behalf of the Baratheons, Renly does not report anything to his older brother Stannis from the capital, and does not like Melisandre much either.
